Emergency Services

Get lifesaving care around the clock.

When you have a medical emergency, Deaconess Emergency and Urgent Care provides the emergency medical services you need. Our combined care location offers convenient, seamless and personalized access to advanced care in Evansville and communities throughout the Tri-State.

Deaconess Health System is committed to improving the health of our communities, and Deaconess Emergency and Urgent Care is evidence of that commitment. We’re expanding technology to reach patients when and where you need us most.

You can count on our emergency-trained staff for fast, expert treatment for life-threatening illnesses, complex injuries and other serious health conditions. You don’t need to assess the severity of your own medical situation or when you need emergency room (ER) care. As a combined ER and urgent care clinic, we offer both levels of medical care in the same location.

What Does an Emergency Room Treat?

Our emergency medicine providers treat life-threatening illnesses and injuries around the clock, every day of the year. Certain medical conditions — like infections, high fevers, concussion and others — can get worse quickly without proper treatment, so don’t try to treat them at home.

Common life-threatening emergencies include:

  • Choking
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • Head and neck injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Seizure
  • Severe chest pain
  • Stroke
  • Sudden weakness or the inability to walk or move

We also treat non-life-threatening emergencies, such as burns, serious cuts and wounds, abdominal pain, complications from a chronic condition, broken bones and other orthopedic injuries.

On-Site Testing and Diagnostics

Every second counts during some medical emergencies. Our on-site lab testing and imaging services enable us to quickly and accurately diagnose your condition, so we can begin treating you right away. Deaconess Emergency and Urgent Care has advanced diagnostic equipment on-site, including X-ray, ultrasound and a state-of-the-art CT scanner.

Our board-certified providers are trained and experienced in emergency care. We treat adults and children of all ages, with or without health insurance.

What to Expect at the ER

Our staff will greet you and quickly assess your condition. We’ll ask questions about your reason for the visit, medications, allergies and general medical history. We’ll take your blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature to assess your immediate needs and medical priority.

You may go straight into the treatment area, or we may direct you to the waiting area, depending on your condition. We treat patients based on medical necessity, rather than order of arrival. However, our unique care model means most patients have shorter wait times with us than at other ERs.

Want more good news? If you only need urgent care services, you pay the lower urgent care fee. And you’re treated by an emergency-trained provider no matter the level of care needed.
